I was inspired to create another illuminated
glass bottle in altered art.

Tutorial

1 choose some chipboards I used a border and a flourish element

glue a piece of cheesecloth and the chipboards with construction
  adhesive on the glass bottle

2 create a pillar gate and a little mermaid with airdrying modeling
   clay and silicone cake moulds,

2a I love to use some leftovers from the chipboards (here the
     bottom conclusion)

borders are used on the sides

glued the gate and also added some shells and two pieces of driftwood as entrance steps

afterwards the bottle was completely covered with crackle medium 'Weathered wood' (DecoArt)

4 after drying covered with a chalky finish paint for glass 'Relic' (DecoArt)

let it dry for a few hours

5 now two wax cremes 'Lavish Green' and 'Brilliant Turquoise'

6   dry brush technique with white gesso to lighten the dark colour

finally added the little mermaid

Welcome!

Today a very special inspiration, it's a lighthouse not only to design yourself, but also to assemble yourself. You can paint and decorate it to match your home furnishings. You can use it as table decoration and with lighting it is an atmospheric evening light on every balcony or terrace.

you can find the Assembly instructions here

The kit comes as 3 flat pieces, on the plate with the balustrades
are also spare parts, so please don't get confused.

Easter Eggs in French Style Part 1

Hello creative friends!

Easter is just around the corner and it's the best time to create some new Easter eggs. Outside it's anything but springlike, on the contrary snowflakes are falling from the sky again, omg :-)
More beautiful is it now in the warm and cosy crafty studio.

I used an old wooden egg as basic, very rustic and natural and absolutely perfect for me.
First of all I made some spring motives with silicon moulds and an acrylic mass from the DIY store. The parts are still flexible even after drying, which is why you can use them very well on real Easter eggs. You can find two examples here tomorrow.

Together with a linen fabric (from an old potato sack) everything was glued on with a hot glue gun. Now I have coated everything with a covering layer of Chalky Finish 'Vintage' from Americana Decor. Now came the most difficult part of the work ??

...wait until it is properly dried ;-)

On the next day a layer of Antiquing Cream 'Titanium White',
let it dry for a short time and wipe off with a damp sponge at some places on the surface.
At the end I used Metallic Lustre 'Champagne Ice' for some shiny highlights.

Thanks for your visit!

GD Calico Craft Parts

Hello everyone!

I'm so excited and happy to be invited to the Calico Craft Parts blog
as a guest designer this month.

I was on search on a little gift for a friend.
She loves the children's novel 'The secret garden' just like me.
It's a wonderful story with an old forgotten garden
which is rediscovered and makes the children happy.

You wanted to know how I did it?

Enjoying Outdoors - Tutorial with Maja Design

Hello creative friends!

Today I want to explain how you can create a vintage romance layout
with an altered 3D frame as your central focal point.

I create a very simple layout because the paper alone gives all the magic effect.
I think is one of my fav in this collection 'Enjoying Outdoors' - 'Singing in the rain'.
I love the beautiful edge design and the girl on the right side and
I like people who smile when it's raining.
Times are not always easy, but I always try to make the most of it.
Take a break from the hectic everyday life and relax.

I started by creating an altered frame for my photo.
Want to see how I made this? Here I have some photos from the making.
Now to the background, first I primed with clear gesso, then I used Distress ink 'Seedless preserves'on a stencil, it's the same colour how you can find on this paper sheet.
Next, I added a Glimmer Mist Spray 'Kiwi' from Tattered Angels
to the background arround the area of the photo.

then I use two die cuts to add more dimension
(Wordlet 'Do what you love' and 'Girl under umbrella')
with papers from 'Vintage Romance'.
Afterwards I choose some embellishments to decorate this romance layout,
for instance from Prima Marketing (garden gates, butterfly), flowers, lace, fabric leftovers,
 water drops, little resin flowers.
I builded a small cluster on the right side under the photo.

suitable to the titel 'singing in the rain' I added some pearl drops
and another umbrella from a die cut, as well as a clockface
from the 'No. XVI' (Vintage Autumn Basics) above with a glass cabochon.
The 'Welcome' sign is a photo cutout with a underlaid folder music paper sheet.

3D look

This project was so much fun to create and I love the 3D effect that you can build up.
Questions??? you're welcome :-)!
I hope my project can give you some inspiration for your work with Maja Design papers.
What is your favourite paper sheet?

ATB Halloween - Magical

Welcome!

The Halloween adventure creative journey continues :-)
It's an artist trading block with a magic glass ball.
Once in a while one is tempted to look into the crystal ball with the notion that there
might be continued positive signs, or?!
If I take a look I see a lot of new crazy ideas in it
:-) MAGICAL :-)

I was very inspired from this theme

The journey will be continues!
See you later my friends

Mixed Up No 9 - Halloween Time

Welcome!

Today I want to share a sneak peek from my latest mixed media project
 for a very cool magazine

Autumn is a wonderful season, because you can see veiled sunrises, the air and sounds are clearer, and everything is a bit more quiet.
It gets darker and more mysterious with shadows lurking around and the fog appearing like fantasy creatures of all kinds.
These thoughts were my inspiration for this mixed media canvas.
When I start a project like this I have never a clear picture in my head,
I like to go with my intuition.

and I have some sneak peeks for you :-)
whole project can you see here
and a big tutorial  :-)

Special Feature Boozybear products

Welcome!

Today I will share with you a project that was made with some chipboards elements from our
I think it would be interesting to show some simply embossing techniques
which are very useful for a project in industrial steampunk style.
I used a gift box from a 1 € Store as basic to make a new masculine mixed media gift box.

Before and Now

First embossing technique - Clockfaces
  1. use an embossing ink pad, but press the chippie not so strong on the pad, only a little bit
  2. you will reach a randomly altered effect, like a weathered look
  3. then add an embossing powder, here Burnt Copper Leaves from Emerald Creek Dare, I love this awesome marble effect

Second embossing technique - Wings
  1. start with a base coat of black gesso, let it dry
  2. embossed the whole chipboard with a gear folder through a Cuttlebug, Big Shot or whatever you have
  3. rubbed silver metallic lustre (DecoArt) over the rough enbossed surface using your fingers

some steps how I do this

some close up's

Hopefully you will now feel even more inspired
to create your own project with this amazing chipboards.
I'm very excited :-)

Happy crafting!
